A skating rink made of bulletproof material in Ibiza

Yesterday at the Reina Sofía park, the ‘Chipironas’ were among the first at the newly installed skating rink, eager to celebrate Ainhoa’s birthday. The rink, open from noon to 7 p.m., features a unique synthetic surface resembling ice, created from a Kevlar-like material for durability. Managed by Enrique Gomez, an ex-ice hockey player, the rink accommodates 75 skaters at a time, with 15-minute shifts during peak times. Skates range from sizes 25 to 49, and additional aids like bears and penguins help children maintain balance. Despite the synthetic ice, the rink still requires maintenance, including blade sharpening for the skates. Enrique, also a 061 technician, oversees the rink’s operations and safety. The rink, suitable for all ages, will be open daily until January 7.
