Work on dismantling the bike lane on Vicent Serra Street in Sant Jordi began last Friday, with the initial phase involving the removal of separator blocks and bollards. Spanning from Plaça Major de Sant Jordi to Mèrlera street, this operation is expected to last two to three weeks, as stated by Mayor Vicent Roig. The project, part of the town’s mobility study, aims to address traffic congestion by removing road markings and repainting the street post-clean-up. Despite costing less than budgeted at €48,279, the removal has faced opposition from local parent-teacher associations and educational institutions, who advocate for preserving the bike lane.
