75% of luxury 5 star hotels on Ibiza and Formentera will extend the season for more than six months

More than half of Ibiza's 5 star hotels will close their doors during the last five days of October.

Three out of four 5 star hotels on Ibiza (75%) will extend the season for more than six months this year, in an attempt both to give the image that the destination opens early and to take a step forward in deseasonalization. “We are hoping that the establishments will open early this year, to quickly turn on the green light to show that Ibiza is already open,” says Raul Sierra, director of the Ibiza Gran Hotel, a 5 star Grand Luxe Hotel. There are even three establishments (two of them the Gran Palladium in Platja d’en Bossa, and the Sir Joan) that will initially remain open for seven months.

In addition, there are others that in principle will remain active longer, such as the Six Senses, which was the last to close last season (January 10th) and the first to open this season (March 15th).

Of the twenty 5 star hotels in the Pitiusas, one will be available for five months (Five Flowers, on Formentera). Three will welcome tourists for five months and two weeks (TRS, 7 Pines, OKU), and two for five months and three weeks (Ushuaïa, Siau), according to their respective booking engines. The Fenicia Prestige, in Santa Eulària, just six months, like the OD Talamanca (opens April 12th, closes October 16th) and the Tarida Beach Resort. The Hard Rock will open on April 8th and close on October 19th, a total of six months and 11 days, two days longer than the Ibiza Gran Hotel.

Closures from October 16th

Three will last six months and two weeks, such as the W, the Bless and the Mirador de Dalt Vila. And six others, around six months and three weeks (Ocean Drive, Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay, Aguas de Ibiza, ME, One).

The closures of the most luxurious 5 star hotels on the island of Ibiza will begin on October 16th, when four at the same time (Ibiza Gran Hotel, OKU, OD Talamanca, Five Flowers) will bid farewell to the season. A day later will be the 7 Pines, and on October 19th, the Hard Rock Hotel and the Ushuaïa. On October 22nd, the Bless. And on the 23rd (Sunday), the adults only Siau, in Port de Sant Miquel. That is to say, between Sunday 16th and Sunday 23rd October, nine 5 star establishments in the Pitiusas will close.

Between Thursday, October 27th and Monday, October 31st, half of the 5 star hotels will stop receiving tourists.

The following week, between Thursday, October 27th and Monday, October 31st, half of the 5 star hotels will stop receiving tourists. On the 27th, Aguas de Ibiza. On the 29th, most of them: Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay, Gran Palladium Palace, Gran Palladium White, TRS, Tarida Beach Resort & Spa and Mirador de Dalt Vila. On the 30th, the Fenicia Prestige and the ME by Meliá, and on the 31st, the Sir Joan, One and the Ocean Drive. On Nov 6th, the W, the latest in autumn.

Other hotel chains on the island with 4 star accommodation follow this trend of closing later, such as three Sirenis hotels, which will end their season on October 31st. One of them, the luxurious Twiins, starts operations on April 14th, so it will be open for six months and two weeks. The Seaview Country Club opens its doors on May 1st, and one day later, the TUI Blue Aura.

In the case of Vibra (which until last year was the PlayaSol brand), the chain will open to tourists across nine establishments as of April 13th, and will gradually incorporate the thirty that make up its hotel group. On September 26th, eight will close their season. By October 1st, most of them (23) will have finished the season, and three more will be added nine days later. On October 31st there will no longer be any in operation, according to their reservation website, although changes may occur.
