The storm has also reached the meteorologists. While some warn that the storm Blas over the Balearic Islands is about to become a medicane or Mediterranean hurricane, the Aemet (Agencia Estatal de MeteorologÃa) denies that this phenomenon will occur.

The interpretation of these data varies according to the eye of the beholder and some see that the Blas storm could become a medicane in the next few hours.
The medicane
And what is a medicane? It is similar to a tropical storm – its name comes from the combination of the words Mediterranean and hurricane – on a smaller scale whose characteristics are very strong and constant winds with abrupt changes of direction and torrential rains .
Agustà Jansà , physicist, meteorologist and former delegate of the Aemet on the Balearic Islands, published today on his Twitter account an image of the satellite with the following information: “Blas already appears to be in the process of becoming medicane”.

And not only him. Other experts have explained in various media how over the Balearic Islands Blas storm will be mutating to a medicane, which would become the fourth in the history of the archipelago since such data are recorded, according to Jansà , after those recorded in 1986, 1996 and 2003.
