Municipalities of Ibiza and Sant Josep the most affected by covid in the Pitiusas Islands

Covid infections have dropped in all areas of the island in the last ten days

Vila and Sant Josep are, right now, the municipalities most affected by the coronavirus in the Pitiusas, according to the latest incidence data published by the Balearic Ministry of Health in its covid viewer this weekend. Both areas are coloured purple on the map of the Balearic Islands, indicating that they have a high number of cases in relation to their population.

Covid numbers predicted to rise

The situation, however, is somewhat different in both municipalities. Vila has 308 infections per 100,000 inhabitants at two weeks; however, the figure at seven days is 175.7, more than half, which would indicate, as experts have repeated since the beginning of the pandemic, that the incidence could increase in the coming days. Vila is also the third municipality most affected by covid in the Balearic Islands. It is, in fact, the first major municipality in the Balearic Islands affected, since the first two spots on the list are occupied by Santa Eugenia and Vilafranca de Bonany, both in Mallorca, which have such a small population that with just a dozen cases detected in the last week recorded an incidence of over 350 infections.
