The high rental costs are pushing some practices to the brink of legality, with issues of non-taxable income and speculative pricing. Pimeef’s president, Alfonso Rojo, highlights the dual benefits of this rental approach: providing employees with stable accommodations and offering landlords security against default and property misuse. This initiative helps maintain fully staffed operations from the start of the season, supporting the local economy despite broader challenges in the housing market.
