The flight of Ryanair 9177 that last Saturday, April 27th took off at 9:40 a.m. from Dublin to Ibiza was very bumpy, and not because of turbulence. Due to the aggressive attitude of four drunken passengers, the pilot had to divert the plane to Palma (Mallorca) because one member of his crew needed medical assistance: a stewardess.
Palma airport received at 13:15 hours the warning from the pilot of the Ryanair flight warning that they could not land in Ibiza because a person needed medical assistance. A group of drunken passengers had assaulted one of the airline’s flight attendants, making her particularly nervous.
In response to this request, the emergency services and the Guardia Civil were waiting for the aircraft on the runway of Son Sant Joan. The assaulted flight attendant was attended to by the medical staff and had to be replaced by another to continue the flight to Ibizawhere it landed almost three hours behind schedule, at 15:00 hours.
Some witnesses explained that Guardia Civil agents removed the four men from the plane and, in all likelihood, they will face charges for endangering air safety.
More than five hours
According to the records, flight RYR9177 / FR9177 departed Son Sant Joan at 2:43 a.m. and took 21 minutes to reach the island of Pitiusa. Thus, a trip (Dublin-Ibiza) that usually takes only two hours and fifty minutes was completed in five and a half hours after arriving almost three hours later than planned due to the aggression suffered by one of the crew members of the commercial aircraft.
