The Pitiusas exceed 1,000 cases of covid although hospitalized slightly down

There are 18 patients hospitalized in Pitiusas with the disease, one fewer than the day before, and the Menorcan patient who had to be moved to Ibiza's ICU has already been discharged and is recovering on his island

There are currently 1,046 active cases of covid. This was the highest temperature ever recorded in the Pitiusas yesterday, and it had not been seen since early September. This significant number of cases, following a day in which laboratories discovered 98 new infections (one of which was in Formentera) and only five discharges were issued, does not result in an increase in hospital demand.

On the contrary, the number of hospitalized in Ibiza was marginally reduced yesterday following the discharge of an admitted patient. There are presently 18 people, three of them are in the intensive care unit (ICU) (one in the Polyclinic Nuestra Seora del Rosario). Can Misses Hospital has not had to make any amendments or extensions so far, despite having triggered the contingency plan.

However, the numerous daily positives recorded on Ibiza are a clear indicator of the island’s surge in incidence, and the sixth wave is in full swing, so the number of active cases is projected to expand and stress the health system. Currently, 1,015 people in Ibiza and 13 in Formentera remain in their homes, in a mild state or without symptoms, all under care of Primary Care teams.

Elena López, a Vila councillor, tests positive for covid.

Elena López, Vila’s first deputy mayor and councillor for Urban Planning, Public Roads, and Sports, said yesterday on her Twitter account that she had tested positive for coronavirus.

“I was recently advised that I tested positive for covid. tI am fully healthy and will remain so for the time period specified by the health authorities, thanks to the vaccine” the first deputy mayor remarked in a tweet. Furthermore, Lopez encouraged individuals to be vaccinated and to exercise extra caution via her social media platforms.

Last Sunday, Vila councilwoman Carmen Boned, who is also the deputy mayor, reported her infection. The number of health workers under active surveillance has also increased to 19, with 13 confirmed infected. Yesterday, 829 new illnesses were recorded in the Balearic Islands. Mallorca had 631 people and Menorca had 100.

Education returns to the Pitiusas to download on the directors the pandemic management.

The Conselleria recognizes the overflow of the Educovid device due to a rise in cases in the Pitiusas and Balearics.

Last week, the Balearic Government made a mistake by changing the strategy for monitoring illnesses in schools, introducing antigen testing in schools, and recovering the Kid Covid gadget.

Marti March, the Minister of Education, and Patricia Gomez, the Secretary of Health, then indicated during a news conference that the adjustments were made in response to an improvement in the protocol, to ensure that schools remained safe spaces, and to send a message of calm.
