The Emergency Department of the Can Misses Hospital has applied the puncture protocol twice in the last month, according to health sources. This has been applied to two patients who came to the service after having noticed a puncture while they were enjoying a night in two different nightclubs on the island, they report. In both cases, drug tests were performed and the results were negative. “Both for drugs in general and those associated with chemical submission,” say the Ibizan hospital, where they have reviewed the data of care in recent weeks to ensure that there has been no other case.
The protocol that was put in place with the two patients consists of administering the hepatitis vaccine, in the event that the affected person has not already had it, as well as a treatment with antibiotics and the treatment after possible exposure to HIV. As the two patients are not from the island, the follow-up of this protocol will be carried out in the health centers where they reside, explained Can Misses Hospital.
Can Misses Hospital performs toxin analysis
The first of the cases, a young woman, arrived at the Emergency Department on July 17th and, according to the hospital, explained to the health workers who attended her that she had noticed a prick in her ankle. The young woman visited the health center twice. The first time before going to the police and a second time after, since there she was recommended to request a toxin analysis. They performed this test, which was negative.
The professionals from Can Misses Hospital do not rule out any option, although they do consider it “strange” to have received a puncture to the ankle. In addition, they explain, the young woman recognized during treatment that she had not lost consciousness at any time. Neither she nor the people accompanying her suffered any robbery or assalt.
