A couple’s vacation in Colombia was disrupted when they received news that their nearly four-year-old chihuahua, Rocky, had died while in a doggy daycare in Ibiza.
The necropsy report commissioned by the owners showed that Rocky had small bruises all over his body, tears in the muscles between his ribs, and a perforating wound on his left side, including a fracture of the cervical c1. The report indicated that Rocky died after a larger dog grabbed him with its mouth and shook him until he was stripped, causing trauma to the medulla oblongata.
The kennel was found to be operating illegally without a municipal license of activity and was not registered in the required register of zoological nuclei. The kennel, which charged 15 euros per day per dog, closed all its pages on social networks following the complaint.
Rocky’s owners have put the case in the hands of a law firm pending the investigation.
