During an interview with Pete Tong, Matutes Prats expressed concern over the absence of such a plan, criticizing political factions for using tourism as a leverage in politics, which he views as detrimental to the island’s economic foundation. He also stressed the importance of maintaining the global reputation of the “Ibiza brand,” essential for sustaining the island’s status as a top tourist destination. Furthermore, he touched upon the potential positive impact of nightclubs on Ibiza’s tourism, arguing for the collective strength of these establishments in promoting and sustaining the island’s unique appeal as the capital of electronic music. Matutes Prats also highlighted his efforts to enhance the quality of his hotels, transitioning from three-star to five-star, which has altered the profile of tourists they attract, thereby adding more value to the brand and the island as a whole.
