Overnight fire destroys house in Ibiza after kitchen ignites while tenants slept

A member of the household who was sleeping on the ground floor was awakened by the sound of the fire and promptly alerted the rest of the family to the danger

Early this morning, a devastating fire broke out in a house while its four inhabitants, two adults and two children, were sleeping. The fire is believed to have originated in the kitchen and quickly spread throughout the house, resulting in the complete destruction of the property.

At 2:24 am, Fire Island Park received an urgent notification via 112 of a fire that broke out in a townhouse located on Guadalajara Street, 7, in Cala de Bou, which is situated in the municipality of Sant Josep. The fire affected both the first and second floors of the building, prompting an immediate response from the emergency services.

Upon receiving the alert, a heavy-duty fire truck and six highly trained firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene, as reported by the Island Park authorities. The Local Police of Sant Josep also responded to the incident to provide assistance and ensure public safety.

According to the Fire Department of the Island, the fire originated in the dishwasher and quickly engulfed the kitchen, causing extensive damage. Unfortunately, due to the doors of the house being left open, the fire and smoke spread to the other areas of the dwelling, resulting in additional damage throughout the property.

Thankfully, one of the occupants who was sleeping on the first floor of the house was awoken by the sound of the fire and immediately alerted the rest of the family. They quickly evacuated the property, and as a result, no injuries were reported.

According to the same sources, the fire was brought under control by 3:00 a.m.
