The island’s cuisine has been featured for the first time at San Sebastián Gastronomika, one of the most important culinary events in Spain, as part of a promotional campaign organised by Ibiza Town Council and Department de Turismo.
Eivissa’s restaurant chefs Catalina Riera, from Ca n’Alfred, Paulina Mauvecín, from Eat is Life, Óscar Molina, from La Gaia, and David Reartes, from Re-Arte, met at the XXI edition of San Sebastián Gastronomika and presented the quality and variety of Ibizan cuisine to more than 40 professionals. The participating chefs were the winners of the first edition of the Vila Gastronomic Awards, an initiative run by the Town Council’s Department of Tourism. Their participation in Gastronomika is part of the prize awarded to the winning establishments.
The San Sebastian Gastronomika event aims to rediscover the French culinary scene and proposes a new dialogue between French and Spanish cuisine under the title ‘Reencuentros’ (Re-encounters).
The Eivissa’s presentation took place on Tuesday, during which the promotional video ‘Vuelve a sentir Ibiza’ (‘Re-experience Ibiza’), which promotes the city’s cuisine, cultural and heritage sites, and a video of the Department of Tourism’s ‘Eating’ Product Club, were shown to the expert audience.
