The unemployment data in the Pitiusas from June which was presented yesterday by the conseller of Economic Model, Tourism and Work, Iago Negueruela, clearly show the tendency towards “full-time employment” on Ibiza as much as on Formentera as well as the rest of the archipelago for the coming months. The Pitiusas have registered 3,094 unemployed, the lowest historical figure ever for the month of June.
The number of unemployed is below the record of 2006 and falls dramatically compared to the same month last year in Ibiza, placing the number of unemployed at 2.966 people, which represents a drop of 57.4% compared to 2021 and 5.4% less than in May of this year.
Formentera follows the same positive trend with only 128 people unemployed, which represents 41.3% less than a year ago and 0.8% less than last month. In the same way, in the Pitiusas the demand for employment falls very significantly: on Ibiza 66.5% less and on Formentera, 47.2% less.
The Balearic Islands leads the increase in employment and the fall in unemployment in Spain
In the Balearic Islands as a whole, the number of unemployed people is 34.248, 45.4% less than in June 2021 and that places the Autonomous Community at the head of the recovery of employment in the country, as Negueruela highlighted during the press conference.
Registrations in Social Security
The registrations in the Social Security also beat a historical record last June, in the Balearic Islands as a whole reaching 592,787 people, which represents 13.3% more than last year, above the Canary Islands with 8.2% and the average of the State, where the affiliation grew by 4.3%. Negueruela did not hesitate to boast of the good affiliation results: “The Balearic Islands has generated one out of every five jobs in the whole of Spain”, he stressed on several occasions.
Regarding new employment contracts, on Ibiza were 10,428 were signed in June. On Formentera the figure was 991 new contracts, of which 40 were temporary and 951 permanent. The increase in this type of permanent contract is another of the dominant points thanks to the last labor reform that affects permanent contracts as opposed to temporary ones, which until a few years ago were the majority.
