Ibiza nightclub doorman fired for recruiting clients to pirate cabs

A discotheque of Ibiza has dismissed a janitor who had initiated contacts with a view to establishing himself as a customer catcher for pirate cabs at his place of worka behavior that was brought to the attention of the club by the Consell de Ibiza.

Investigations by the Transport Service of the Department of Territory, Tourist Planning, Mobility, Road Infrastructures and Fight against Intrusiveness of the Consell de Ibiza have led to the identification of the doorman and informed the club, which acted quickly and dismissed the worker.

The insular director of Mobility, Roberto Algabahas thanked in a statement the employers’ association Ocio de Ibiza for its “demonstrated commitment to compliance with the law in the transport of its associated establishments”, as evidenced by the fact that “given the evidence derived from the investigation, which showed the identity of the doorman and his intention to collaborate with this scourge, surely with the intention of profiting, those responsible for the employers’ association in the first instance and, subsequently, of the discotheque had no hesitation in taking strong measures, such as the dismissal of this controller”.

Operation of the ‘openings’

For the first time, the Consell de Ibiza counts with an Transport Inspection Planwhich sets the objectives and measurable indicators to evaluate the results of the campaign. In addition, this plan foresees special actions at sensitive points such as discotheques, beaches or the airport.

In this sense, the week of the ‘openings’, the department of inspected a total of 78 vehiclesin a joint action with the Ibiza Local Police, which will be repeated during the summer, as well as other actions with other local police forces and several units of the Civil Guard.

In parallel, the Consell continues with its agenda of collaboration between administrations to take measures that can result in a decrease of illegal supply, involving actors such as the airport operator AENA.
