The Ibizan duo formed by Inés Izquierdo y Alicia Comin won the silver medal in the junior-amateur category at the national aerial dance championship known as Aerial Art Championship. This was held on Saturday, April 27th at the facilities of the Allegra Danza Aérea sports club in Las Rozas de Madrid.
Izquierdo and Comin, both students of the Ibiza Arte Aéreo school, were “the youngest participants in their category”, according to their coach Penelope Bonilla. The promising acrobats from Ibiza are eleven years old, while the rest of the competitors, five more duos, “were between 15 and 16 years old”.
“Very proud”
Izquierdo and Comin performed a show of about five minutes in which they made use of hoops.
Bonilla was “very proud” with the role of the young athletes: “It is very nice and special what Izquierdo and Comin have achieved, as it is very difficult to be second in a national championship being the youngest. In addition, it was very hard to prepare for this competition as they have been training very hard for many days. We are very proud of them and we are still thrilled with their achievement”.
The sporting event also featured the participation of Ibiza Aerial Art in two duets of hoops in the small and adult category, as well as three in the individual category. However, in none of these they made it to the podium.
