Ibiza’s 25th World Heritage anniversary celebrated with a surprise-filled Medieval Fair

This Thursday marks the launch of Medieval Ibiza 2024, beginning with a vibrant parade from the port of Vila to Es Martell. The event will feature a ceremonial landing of medieval authorities from across Spain. Notably, this year’s festival includes new venues like the port of Vila and Vara de Rey to celebrate Ibiza’s 25th anniversary as a World Heritage site. An enhanced medieval experience is promised, with additional market stalls and cultural activities extending to Paseo de Vara de Rey. Highlights include artisan stalls, traditional performances, and a ‘medieval passport’ incentive encouraging local purchases. The festival will also see performances across various city locations, aiming to draw larger crowds than previous years, with an anticipated 200,000 attendees. To ease access and minimize disruption, free bus services will be available, and efforts have been made to reduce the impact on local residents.
