Marriage dissolution lawsuits fell by 3.04% in the Balearic Islands last year, as 2,612 breakups were registered compared to the 2,694 filed in 2021, according to data collected by the Statistics Service of the CGPJ and which were released yesterday.

In 2022, the Balearic courts recorded 63 consensual separation lawsuits (68 in 2021) and 11 non-consensual, 16 less than the previous year (27). In total, 74 separations were carried out last year compared to 95 in 2021, a reduction of 22.11%.

Regarding divorce proceedings, last year 1,724 by mutual agreement were urged (in 2021 there were 1,757), which shows a decrease of 1.93% year-on-year. Likewise, during the year 2022, 814 non-consensual divorce proceedings were filed, compared to 839 in 2021, that is, a decrease of 2.98%.

As for marriage annulment lawsuits, throughout last year none were filed, compared to two in 2021.

Relating the marriage dissolution lawsuits for the total year to the population as of January 1, 2022, it is observed that the autonomous community with the highest number of lawsuits occurred in the Canary Islands.
