A crack opens up on the Ronda Calvi in Dalt Vila on Ibiza

The Ibiza City Council is drafting "a project to undertake the repair work" of the path along the wall, in the historic center of Dalt Vila.

A crack has appeared in the cobblestone pavement of the Ronda Calvi in Dalt Vila, the road that runs along the inside of the wall of the old city, causing concern among residents and visitors to this area of the city, through which hundreds of tourists have passed this Easter.

The Ibiza City Council yesterday assured that it has “evidence” of the appearance of this crack, which is several meters long and a couple of centimeters wide. Municipal sources indicated yesterday that the Vila Department of Heritage has been “monitoring it from the moment it was detected”. They were already aware “a few months ago and are currently drafting a project to undertake the repair work” of this area of the historic center of the city, they said.

They also indicated that these type of tasks are “maintenance work of the entire walled area, which is continuously monitored”, and the “corresponding repairs” are carried out at each point to maintain the acropolis of Dalt Vila in good condition, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
