Court summons man for selling €26,500 watch loaned to him by partner

The Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands has summoned next Friday a man accused of a crime of misappropriation, for selling a watch valued at 26,500 euros that he borrowed from his partner on a temporary basis.

The Second Section will hold the pre-trial hearing against the male at 09.45 hours.

In his brief, the prosecutor refers that the woman lent the defendant the aforementioned watch, the latter committing himself to return it to her once he received an identical model that he was going to buy.

The man, who had a sporadic relationship with the victim, refused to return it to her when she demanded it almost four months later, on the grounds that she had not yet received the new watch.

After the relationship ended months later, the defendant sold the watch to a third party unrelated to the facts, keeping the money obtained from the sale.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office considers the facts constitutive of a crime of misappropriation and asks for two years and three months in prison for the man. In addition, he is interested in compensating the victim in the amount of 26,500 euros in which the watch is valued.
