“The work has taken longer than we had planned, but within the walls of Casa Lola, which we had not been able to break through in years, it was difficult to establish exactly what was inside when it came to execute the work of restoration of the land,” explained the mayor Ángel Luis Guerrero. Although thanks to the investigations carried out, they had identified most of the buildings erected without a license and have guaranteed the municipal urban development.

According to information provided by municipal sources, inside Casa Lola only part of the original construction “less than 200 square meters” remains. Specifically, unauthorized elements such as roofs and interior walls have been removed, but the perimeter walls, erected with a license, have been maintained. “Although it would have to be seen what part can be considered legal after everything that has been done there ignoring all the orders to stop”, Guerrero has detailed.

According to the Council data, 2,490 square meters of closed buildings have been demolished, 514 of perimeter walls and fences, two swimming pools of 322 square meters in total, floors of terraces and plazas in the interior of the property that add another 3,900 square meters and 2,100 more of exterior floors and roads. Now, the City Council have explained that the operators are checking the removal of the ruins and the waste generated and making sure that the unauthorized facilities are unused.

They explain that once the work is completed the cost of the whole operation will be reviewed, which was calculated approximately on the basis of the information they had on the illegal constructions before accessing the property. The amount determined will be claimed to the property and will be added to the amount of 1.4 million euros already owed. “The citizens of Sant Josep will not pay a penny for the work to demolish all this complex, we have mechanisms to claim those responsible for the illegalities that have been committed in Casa Lola and we already have them in place to collect as soon as possible the reparation of the evil they have done”, assured the mayor of the municipality.
