Caro Lewis: From doctor to DJ in Ibiza nights

Caro Lewis, a 49-year-old native of Cordoba (Argentina), is preparing to live in a full season as a dj this summer in Ibiza. She has been a doctor for 20 years and a dj for 13 years. She is a specialist in dermatology, from Monday to Friday she works in a hospital in her province and on weekends she goes into the booth where she plays tech house, the music genre she likes the most.

Although both facets may seem antagonistic, for her they are synonymous with health, well-being and serviceas published by Infobae in an extensive interview. Caro Lewis will fulfill her dream this summer of playing on the island for the whole season.

Coming from a family of doctors conditioned her career path, but her artistic side was always present, as well as her persistence to achieve her goals. The last year of her career she became pregnant with her son, but this did not prevent her from finishing her degree and completing her internship with a lot of effort and sacrifice.

Musical debut

The first time he danced to electronic music was in Pacha Buenos Aires. Your professional debut came in 2012 in a nightclub in his hometown, but the big milestone in his musical career was meeting the dj and music producer Bushwacka. When Caro Lewis heard that the British duo Layo and Bushwacka was going to offer a show in Córdoba, she decided to go and meet them. She managed to gain access to the VIP sector and played the role of hostess with a friend and the producer thanks to her knowledge of English. He told her that when she went to Europe to let him know and she did. In his first trip to Ibiza contacted Bushwaka and invited her to a residency.

Lewis has also played in Marbella and Milan and has shared booths with djs such as Dave Seaman, Just Be and Jamie Jones. “I was never able to do a full season in Ibiza until now, because of my work as a doctor,” she confesses to Infobae. “I’ve even gone away for a weekend, four days nothing more, because it was the only thing I could take,” she regrets, but she still managed to grow professionally in the world of music.

In addition, he participated in the most watched set in the world in number of plays: the Bolier Room of Carl Cox in Sant Antoni in 2013, thanks to the invitation of Bushwaka. This historic session opened many doors for him.

The road to get here has not been easy, Caro Lewis has had to face many prejudices from those close to him. For a while she even felt that she was living a double life: during the day with her hair up and little make-up, and at night she would wear glitter, hairstyles and party looks. This year, Caro Lewis has asked for an unpaid leave to be able to work the whole season in Ibiza. “When I play music, I try to make people smile, so that when they leave they say, ‘What a good night,'” she says.
