Early this morning a inflatable boat with five people crashed against the rocks in Punta Gavina, on Formentera, and one of its occupants has died. According to the information provided by 061, the deceased was a 35 year old man who was in cardiorespiratory arrest when he was rescued. Despite the resuscitation attempts of the emergency services, he died from his injuries.
One deceased in marine accident
At around 3:45am 061 received the alert. Fifteen minutes later the five occupants were located and the firefighters rescued them from the water. In addition to the deceased, there is another victim, 50 years of age, who has suffered serious trauma to a leg and had to be evacuated by helicopter to the Hospital Can Misses. The other three injured have slight polycontusions, as confirmed by the 061, and have been transferred to the Formentera Hospital.
Although the causes of the accident are unknown, from the communication office of the Guardia Civil they report that for the moment they rule out that it is neither drug trafficking nor immigration.
