The vice-president and councilor of Tourism of Formentera, Alejandra Ferrer, has collected this Tuesday the award for Formentera to the best beach destination in Spain at the first National Geographic Travel readers awards ceremony, held in Madrid.
According to a press release from the Consell de Formentera, Alejandra Ferrer thanked the readers for this distinction for Formentera. “It encourages us to continue protecting the island and makes us especially excited because it comes from a medium that also promotes the protection of the territory and, moreover, its readers are nature lovers and are aware of the care of the environment,” explained Ferrer.
In fact, as they explain from the magazine, destinations have been awarded in recognition of their sustainability and excellence. “After a selection process carried out by experts, there have been fifty-five finalists. For a month thousands of readers have voted and as a result there have been ten winners and four special mentions”, explains the Consell.
