The craft and art markets of Formentera will begin to gradually reopen from May 1, as the Consell de Formentera announced yesterday. The markets of Sant Francesc and es Pujols opened Saturday, May 1. The La Mola market is scheduled to open on May 15, the Sant Ferran market on May 29  and the La Savina market at the beginning of June, with a date still to be confirmed.

“Initially, the plan was to open the markets on the 15th of May, but the request by the artisans to open a little earlier has been approved. We understand that although there is not much activity at the moment, it is also important and necessary for them to be able to open and start working,” said the councillor for commerce, Ana Juan.

The markets will remain open until October and this year, the Consell de Formentera will again subsidise one hundred percent of the occupation of public roads of “all stalls that are on public land depending on the local administration,” said Ana Juan.

As for the schedules, they will be adapted to the current situations in line with the emergency health protocols, both in terms of business hours and curfew. Thus, the des Pujols market will run from Monday to Sunday, from 7pm until 10pm. Meanwhile, the Sant Francesc market will maintain its usual opening hours, from Monday to Saturday, from 10 am to 2 pm.
