The duty judge of Eivissa on Monday withdrew the passport of the accused assailant of the alleged crime of attempted murder for cutting the neck of his co-worker with the blade of a box cutter along with prohibiting him from leaving the country. In addition, among the precautionary measures ordered by the judge is the issuing of a restraining order and a ban on contacting the victim.
The events occurred around 6:30pm last Friday, February 18, following a work-related fight between two men aged 46 and 51, both of Moroccan nationality, in the parking lot of the Can Coix sports complex in Sant Antoni.
Apparently, the 46-year-old man lunged at the other after a work-related argument , causing a serious cut on his neck and cutting his fingers as a result of the aggression.
The victim was stunned after the attack and took a pick axe he had in his vehicle for self-defence, in case he was attacked again. After a few moments he tried to leave the scene in his vehicle, but a few metres after getting in and starting to drive, he fainted, the door opened and he fell on to the ground.
He was then attended first by people who were in the area and later by the ambulance, which came to the scene and transferred him to the Can Misses hospital, according to police sources.
Both arrested after attack
The two men, once treated and discharged from the medical center were arrested by the Eivissa Policía Nacional. The police determined that the participation of the victim in the fight would have been “in self-defense” and that in no case did he hit his aggressor with the axe, so he was released. On the other hand, the other man was brought before the court on Tuesday, the alleged aggressor of the injuries with the box cutter, and was released with precautionary measures.
