Covid in Ibiza: Fewer positives, fewer active infections but more hospitalizations

The last wave of the covid pandemic continues to plummet in Ibiza and Formentera. The number of covid infections is decreasing every day, as well as the number of active cases, although the number of hospitalized patients continues to increase. This is what the latest data published by the Balearic Ministry of Health and the Health Department of Ibiza and Formentera show.

In the last 24 hours only 27 positive cases have been detected, one of them in Formentera. This is the lowest number of infections detected by private laboratories and the Microbiology Laboratory of the Can Misses Hospital in one day since the beginning of December. This, taking into account the possible discharges given by doctors in the same time, leaves the active infections right now in the Pitiusas at 570, the lowest number since December 10, when there were 542. That is, in one day the number of people affected by the virus in Ibiza and Formentera has been reduced by 6.7%.

The number of covid patients, however, has increased again to 70 (three more), the highest figure since last Friday. The increase is concentrated among those on the ward, with a total of 61 (three more), as those affected by the virus who are in critical care units remain at nine, the same as yesterday.

Can Misses Hospital has 64 patients: 60 on the ward and four in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The patient from Formentera who is in the ICU of the Hospital Son Espases, in Mallorca, where he was transferred about a month and a half ago, must be added to this figure. At the Policlínica Nuestra Señora del Rosario there are another five covid patients: one on the ward and four in their own critical care unit.

500 people remain at home, in a mild or asymptomatic state: 468 in Ibiza and 32 in Formentera.
