Six months ago Anthony Gofer (Anna, 1958) began to develop a new line of work in which he explores geometry using mainly wood and recycled plastics as materials. The exhibition ‘Elements and Forms’, which the Valencian artist inaugurated yesterday at the Ocean Drive Talamanca Hotel, is a sample of this new phase, largely inspired by perfume and cologne bottles.
Specifically, the caps of these containers, made of metal and above all plastic, are the fundamental elements that Gofer uses to create his geometric compositions. On painted wooden bases, the creator arranges these and other elements that make up the paintings on display in the exhibition room of this hotel establishment in Ibiza.
‘Elements and Forms’ brings together a total of twenty medium-sized works. The great majority are created this year and are from Gofer’s last stage, while the rest belong to an earlier line of work, in which he made use of the methacrylate and that already made known in the solo exhibition ‘Resplandecencia’, which opened in July last year in the exhibition hall of Santa Eulària.
The exhibition at the Ocean Drive Talamanca Hotel will be open to the public until May 31st.
Anthony Gofer is a self-taught artist who is also a painter and began exhibiting six years ago.
