The Pitiusas are located on yellow alert for strong winds of up to 80 km/h from the west and southwest, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

A yellow alert is also active for coastal phenomena with winds from the west and southwest of 50 to 60 km/h (force 7) and waves of 3 to 4 meters.

The alert for rough seas will remain active from 8am this Monday until midnight. The yellow risk for strong wind gusts at 10am and ends at midnight.

The Pitiusas thus begin the week with a winter storm that will bring wind, cold and rain to the islands after a warm, spring start to the year. Strong winds this Monday on the islands also the Aemet predicts that on Tuesday the winds will reach 90 km/h in the Balearic Islands.

Therefore, the islands will tomorrow remain on orange alert for rough seas, with wind from the southwest and west of 60 to 70 km/h (force 8) and waves of 4 to 5 meters. The highest wave could reach eight to nine meters, according to the Aemet. The areas exposed to that direction of wind and waves will be particularly affected. The Yellow Alert will also remain active for wind gusts of up to 80km/h.

On the other hand, the Aemet forecasts that on Wednesday the snow level will drop to 600 meters and bad seas with waves of up to five meters.

The State Meteorological Agency maintains for the wednesday the yellow alert for strong wind gusts of up to 70km/h and bad seas in the Pitiusas with westerly winds of 50 to 60 km/h (force 7) turning northwest at noon and waves of 3 to 4 meters.

The yellow alert for wind gusts will be deactivated at 12 noon, while the alert for rough seas will be extended until midnight.

Temperatures

The week starts with lows and highs of 10 and 17 degrees on Monday. On Tuesday the temperatures remain steady, with a significant drop on Wednesday with lows of 5 degrees and highs of 15 degrees. On Thursday the minimum temperature will be 6 degrees and a maximum of 14 degrees. The forecast for the rest of the week is that this drop in temperatures will be maintained as the snow level will fall to 600 meters.

Rainfall

Showers will arrive on Tuesday at noon, with a 60% chance of precipitation and will remain throughout the week with a higher chance of precipitation on Thursday with 80%.
