One of the UK’s most wanted fugitives could be in Ibiza

Fugitive John James Jones has been wanted since 2018 for stabbing and critically injuring two individuals

John James Jones, a British citizen, is 31 years old, 1.83 meters tall, and has a stocky build, fair complexion, and dark hair. According to data released by the British Embassy in a communiqué, this is the description of one of the most wanted fugitives in the United Kingdom, who may be now in Ibiza.

Jones and another accused, according to the embassy, attacked two other people in Lancashire multiple times with a knife on April 28, 2018, causing significant injuries. The British police believe the fugitive “fled the United Kingdom immediately after the incidents.” Jones was found in a hotel in Madrid the night after the stabbing, and he fled the country “fast” the next morning, according to evidence obtained so far. Investigators suspect he may be hiding in Ibiza right now.

In addition to John James Jones, the British Embassy has provided information on eleven other fugitives from British justice as part of the “Most Wanted” campaign, which is being carried out in collaboration with the Spanish security forces by the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the NGO Crimestoppers.

According to the Embassy, all of the fugitives are men who are wanted for offenses such as “murder, large-scale drug trafficking, and the supply of firearms and ammunition.”

“In the face of mutual risks and problems, we are joined as partners, sharing not just our knowledge and expertise, but also our aspirations and beliefs. In this approach, we make both countries’ populations safer. As a result, I’d like to express my gratitude to our Spanish colleagues in the National Police and the Guardia Civil for their contributions to this campaign and, more broadly, for their ongoing collaboration on the challenges we share”, explained Sarah Cowley, the British Minister Counsellor in Spain, at a press conference last Wednesday at the Security Technology Center (CETSE) headquarters in Madrid.

Rafael Pérez Ruiz, the Ministry of Interior’s Secretary of State for Security, stated that Operation Most Wanted “allows us to reinforce and increase police collaboration between Spain and the United Kingdom with the goal of creating a hostile environment that hinders the establishment of criminal organizations in Spain and the settlement of criminals in our cities.”
