Up to twenty people -mostly British tourists- have staged in a massive fight in the Paseo del Mar de Sant Antoni on the pier between where the boats moor for marine excursions and the ticket offices. The incident occurred on Wednesday at 5:30pm and, during the fight, two people, a man and a woman, were thrown into the sea at the port. The woman was helped out of the waters of the port and the man was able to do it by his own means. During the brawl there were punches, kicks, and some of the participants even threw objects such as garbage cans. Some of the passers-by, stunned, recorded the fight with their mobile phones, which lasted a couple of minutes.
According to a spokesman for the City Council of Sant Antoni speaking to Diario de Ibiza, the reason for the fight was because one of the boats that make ‘party boat’ excursions to see the sunset denied boarding to some people for being under the influence of alcohol, which has led to the suspension of the outing. According to the Consistory, there have been no injuries or arrests.
Condemned by PSOE Sant Antoni
The PSOE councilor in Sant Antoni, Antonio Lorenzo, has shared the video of the fight on social networks and has denounced that the municipal government team voted against the proposal to include the port area and s’Arenal in the area affected by the decree of measures against excessive tourism.
