Ibiza and Formentera have a growing home exchange market, with many owners offering their small apartments and country houses in exchange for vacation stays elsewhere.
Most of these properties are offered between the end of October and May, which coincides with the off-season in the islands. Some owners also rent their properties as tourist accommodations during peak season and then use the home exchange system to travel during the rest of the year.
The exchange is done either simultaneously, with owners staying in each other’s houses at the same time, or through points obtained by hosting others or completing user profiles.
The exchange portals have limited options for the summer months, with more properties available from October onwards. Some owners have specific preferences for where they would like to exchange their homes, and some also have pets living in their homes.
