Amnesia nightclub on Ibiza sanctioned 4 times for not complying with schedules and excessive noise

In addition to the Amnesia nightclub sanctions, in order to reach an agreement, Unidas Podemos leaves the proposal on the table for no major musical events be held during the season.

The City Council of Sant Antoni has issued four sanctions against the Amnesia nightclub, in Sant Rafel, three of them for non-compliance with the schedules and one for excessive noise, as explained in the plenary session by the councilor of Governance and Environment, Neus Mateu, in response to a question from Unidas Podemos.

Mateu explained that, following neighborhood complaints, varias inspections have been carried out of Amnesia nightclub both by the inspection services of the City Council and the Policía Local, which has led to the opening of the infringement proceedings. He did not specify the amount of the possible sanctions.

Inspections of Amnesia nightclub took months

As published in this newspaper, the first complaints from the neighbors were registered in May, and, despite this, in the first week of August an inspection of Amnesia nightclub had not yet been carried out. For this reason, the councilwoman of Unidas Podemos, Angie Roselló, presented this question in the plenary. “If no one is sent, it conveys a message of impunity to Amnesia nightclub and other leisure establishments,” she said.

On the other hand, the opposition groups criticized “the parade” of the party Ibiza Global Festival of electronic music held on the beach of s’Arenal the last weekend of July with the attendance of more than 10,000 people, which caused “the collapse of traffic and much inconvenience to the neighbors“. In fact, Unidas Podemos presented a proposal for events with a “large influx of people” to be held outside the tourist season, but, at the request of the first deputy mayor, Joan Torres, of El PI, decided to leave it on the table to try to reach a consensus on a new wording of the same with PSOE-Reinicia and at least El PI, given the refusal of both PP and Ciudadanos to support it.

“We must favor the deseasonalization because there are too many people in high season”

Torres proposed that the “macro-music events” be held between October and May, except for the Sant Bartomeu festivities, to “favor deseasonalization”, since “there are too many people in high season”. On the other hand, the PSOE proposed that each festival be previously approved by the plenary, which provoked criticism from the mayor, Marcos Serra, and the councilman of Cs, José Ramón Martín. “We can not close the doors to events that can have international impact,” said Serra.
