Aemet alert: Unexpected temperature shifts this week in Ibiza and Formentera

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) warns that an anticyclonic blockade will prevent the entry of Atlantic squalls and will cause “temperatures significantly above normal, more typical of the month of March”.

The delegation of Aemet in the Balearic Islands explains that after a new “break” of these winter days, Ibiza and Formentera return to 20 degrees this week.

Peak temperatures are forecast for wednesday, January 24 and Thursday, January 25.

Minimum temperatures

Last night minimum temperatures of up to one degree were recorded in the PItiusas, specifically in Sant Joan, but in Sant Antoni, Ibiza and the airport reached four degrees and in Formentera, six.

On Sunday, maximum temperatures of 16 degrees were reached in Sant Joan and Ibiza and 15 degrees in Formentera, Sant Antoni and the airport.

For this Monday, the Aemet foresees a predominance of little cloudy sky with some interval of high clouds from the afternoon. Maximum temperatures of up to 17 degrees are expected with light wind from the southwest that will increase to moderate during the day.
