The crews of the half dozen or so pleasure boats that anchored last Monday on the beach of s’Alga, in the bay of the island of s’Espalmador located next to Formentera, enjoyed a visit from a family of dolphins. For more than half an hour, at least five of these mammals roamed the perimeter of the bay in search of food.

Their presence was quickly noticed by those enjoying the beach, no more than four or five people, and passengers on private boats. The animals came to leave and re-enter the bay, where they still buoys for anchoring have not yet been installed ]controlled anchoring of boats.

As the season has not yet started, the calmness of these waters facilitates the visit of dolphins. In a few weeks, the massive presence of boats will deter them from accessing these near-shore spaces.

Several of the dolphins, before leaving s’Espalmador, gave away several pirouettesto the grateful spectators, who were in fact the visitors…
