For the time being, the lifting of the prohibition on the activities of Ibiza nightclubs will be employed solely in DC 10, which will host three Circo Loco parties next Monday in October, and Amnesia, which will host a closing party on October 23rd with no tickets left. However, the lifting of this prohibition has a promotional weight that outweighs the sector’s lack of profitability from this symbolic reopening.
“What matters is that we can now promote normalcy for 2022 and say at the London Fair [World Travel Market] that the entire island and its nightclubs will be open,” explains José Luis Bentez, manager of the Ocio de Ibiza organization. Similarly, it implies “another really important news,” he says, “because it is sending the message that if you want to come party, you must get vaccinated.”
Another crucial piece of news is that it sends the message that if you want to attend a party, you should get vaccinated.”
Benitez believes that the parties organized by DC 10 and Amnesia are “brave,” but they are still “anecdotal” appointments. “It is critical that our companies can open as of yesterday, but our season is theoretically gone,” he recalls.
Aside from the paucity of tourists at this time of year, another big impediment for other clubs opening at this time is the challenge of filling a staff “when there is a definite scarcity of workers on the island,” according to Benitez.
Due to a lack of time, the organization Ocio de Ibiza will be unable to carry out any specific promotional efforts for the World Travel Market in London, which begins on November 1st. However, Bentez notes that members of this group are already organizing a Christmas campaign and that “more than one” of the island’s large nightclubs will be open for the impending holidays.
Ibiza nightclubs during winter: Pacha or Lio
Pacha has always been the only big club open during the winter season, but only on weekends and holidays. Although the company does not intend to reopen immediately, a spokeswoman for the company indicated that they are still waiting to see how the covid laws evolve before deciding whether to continue operations in the following weeks.
Precisely, the closing celebration of the Pacha Group’s cabaret restaurant Lío Ibiza, which intended to take advantage of the new laws to test the offer of club with DJs and the public in reserved tables, was conducted last night. As a result, one of the options being considered by the company is that the nightlife offer this autumn and winter relocate to Lio, with dimensions and characteristics that would make it simpler to adapt to the restrictions imposed by the Balearic Government.
No dancing is allowed in pubs
Several of the businesses contacted yesterday claimed to being completely unsure about how to adjust the job and impose limits on clients. Thus, according to the Govern’s laws, the public can only consume seated and leave their beverages on the table if they want to walk out to dance with masks to the track, ensuring a capacity proportional to a person per two square meters.
The Balearic Government says that only dances in premises with a disco license are permitted.
