Parliament approves regulation of ‘concierge’ activity in Ibiza

The PSOE proposal requires councils to register those concierges who carry out this activity in the island of Ibiza

The Balearic Parliament yesterday approved a non-legislative proposal submitted by the PSOE which urges the Balearic Govern to “specify the minimum conditions and specific characteristics to be met by the so-called concierges for the development of the activity of intermediatetourist services. The proposal also includes the request to work with the island councils to develop “ a register of persons and companies that offer such services and are operating in the Balearic Islands”.

The PSIB-PSOE representative Enric Casanova, who defended the socialist proposal, lamented the abstention of the PP and Ciudadanos groups, since, he stressed, “they deny an existing reality, which must be regulated. “Regulation of the sector is needed to avoid intrusion and ensure that it complies with certain requirements and with certain labor and tax obligations,” Casanova added through a statement.

“This activity must define and identify its main functions, the requirements for training or qualifications necessary to exercise it and establish minimum standards of quality and safety,” said the socialist representative through the press release.
