PP calls for a law allowing enforcement of the Covid passport

The Partido Popular (PP) calls for a "Pandemic Law" to give legal coverage to the Communities

The deputy spokesperson of the PP Parliamentary Group, Nuria Riera, yesterday argued for the need for a “Pandemic Law” to “give legal status to the Covid passport. The PP member pointed out that the courts have overturned similar measures in other communities. Riera made these statements at the regular Monday press conference, prior to today’s plenary session of the Balearic Parliament.

In her speech, the PP spokesperson stressed that the conservative group “will support the implementation of the covid passport for certain activities in order to avoid new restrictions”, as long as this measure is contained within a regulatory framework that gives legal certainty to the executive, such as a Pandemic Law, as they consider it “unacceptable that it should be the courts managing the pandemic”. “We have been calling for this law from the Sánchez government for a year,” said Riera.

In addition, the deputy spokesperson of the PP in Parliament placed special emphasis on the need for the Govern to manage the arrival of the sixth wave of the pandemic “optimally”, “because the Health Department must open the wards and beds that are needed before the usual hospital overcrowding occurs, which, in addition to the sick and their families, affects health professionals who have to redouble their efforts, especially now with the flu and Covid”.
