The Balearic Ministry of Environment foresees that the trench to install the new pipeline in the auditorium of Caló de s’Oli will be finished today, the same day in which the arrival of the new structure is also foreseen. The same sources consider that the works in the area will be finished next week, as they initially forecasted.

It is estimated that the work will cost about 400,000 euros to be covered by the Balearic Water Agency (Abaqua) as those responsible for the pumping station in that area of Cala de Bou.

Ministry of Environment launched boats to clean the area

Last Wednesday, when a contingency plan was activated to minimize the effects of this spill, the Ministry of Environment launched two boats to clean the coastline of the area, which “are going out depending on how the sea is,” they point out. Thus, eight people at risk of social exclusion from Apfem-Aktua are working on the maintenance of the area. The aim of this project, which was launched at the end of 2021, is to improve the environmental quality of beaches, coves, natural coastal habitats and spices through cleaning, maintenance and improvement of places located in areas of natural relevance. In the case of es Caló de s’Oli, they are in charge of reestablishing normality.

As for the divers that the Conselleria announced last week that it was going to hire to clean the seabed, they indicate that their work will begin once the works are finished and fecal waste is no longer dumped into the sea.
