The Guardia Civil has made public how the kidnapping was carried out in Zaragoza of the 13-month-old baby of a woman from Ibiza and the baby’s subsequent transfer to Madrid.
At the moment four people have already been arrested in connection with this crime (three of them relatives of the child: the father and paternal grandparents, and a trusted family friend).
According to the Guardia Civil in a press release, the kidnapping was planned by the paternal family of the baby, with the help of a close friend and with the advice of a lawyer who was aware of the intentions of those involved in the alleged crime.
The father and ex-partner of the child’s mother who are recently separated, after learning where she was with her baby, moved to Zaragoza with the paternal grandfather on Tuesday, October 11th, reports the Guardia Civil. Two days later, on the 13th, they violently abducted the baby -even injuring the mother-, got into a car owned by the father and drove to Parla, in Madrid.

There they stayed at the home of the trusted friend, who not only provided the house in which to hide, but also all the necessary infrastructure to hide the kidnappers for an undetermined period of time.

The Guardia Civil adds that the friend provided a new vehicle and a garage to keep the vehicle with which they had committed the kidnapping, as well as a cell phone through which they could contact the rest of the family involved with the sole objective of not allowing the baby to be found.
The paternal grandmother, according to the investigations, was in charge of providing financial support for the baby’s care, as well as the person who would inform the lawyer, who in turn advised the family on how to carry out the theft of the child so that everything would appear to be legal, as well as advice on how to evade justice.
Another person involved in the incident is the brother of the child’s father, who in addition to advising on the movements to follow, was going to be in charge of editing and manipulating photographs in order to make it look as if the child’s mother had staged the kidnapping after regretting leaving her son with his father, the Guardia Civil adds in its report.
Arrests and crimes
In the course of the investigation four people have been arrested and the crimes they are charged with are the following: the father, a main perpetrator of the events, an alleged crime of belonging to a criminal group, crime of parental abduction of a minor, crime of gender violence and serious injury.
The grandfather, a main perpetrator of the events, crime of belonging to a criminal group, parental abduction of a minor and serious injury crime.
The grandmother and the trusted friend of the family, crime of belonging to a criminal group and parental abduction of a minor.
The detainees were brought before the court in Calatayud on Saturday, and the father and grandfather of the baby were sent to the penitentiary in Zuera.
The Guardia Civil continues with the investigation for the location of a fifth person whose participation would have been necessary in this family plot.
