Juan ‘Ibiza’ already wearing blue and a standard bearer for the island with UD Ibiza

After nearly 15 years away from the island, the Ibizan defender says that he returns "eager" and "glad to be part of the club's vision."

The Ibizan footballer Juan Fernandez ‘Ibiza’ is already wearing the UD Ibiza light blue with pride, after being officially presented this Wednesday at Can Misses with the club’s jersey. After almost 15 professional years away from the island, the Ibiza player returns home for two seasons in the ambitious sporting project that UD Ibiza has planned for this historic era that has begun in professional football.

Juan ‘Ibiza’ was seen at his presentation to be motivated, happy and delighted to be back in his homeland. The islander footballer, who came through the youth ranks of Rapid and Portmany before leaving as a youngster to join the Villarreal youth academy, has a sparkle in his eyes when he talks about his new adventure with UD Ibiza, and is eager to get involved on the pitch and start helping the team.

“For me it is a tremendous source of pride to return home after 15 years. For me and for my family. But I didn’t come just because it’s my home. I’ve come because it is a very exciting project that has caught my attention, and I am very grateful to the club for taking an interest in me and giving me this opportunity. That, added to the fact that I’m returning home, makes me very happy, eager to help the team and continue growing with this club, which is doing things very well, “said the new Celeste defender.
