Two injured when a motorboat collides with a sailboat in Formentera

A 37-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, both Spanish nationals, were injured after suffering a boating accident in Formentera this morning at around 10 a.m. Both were taken by SAMU 061 to the Hospital de Formentera with multiple traumatisms.

The woman had to be taken shortly thereafter in helicopter to the Hospital de Can Misses in Ibiza, where she has been admitted, and the man remains under observation in Formentera.

Both are stable and conscious and have not been seriously injured, reported the Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera.

Apparently, this morning, the sailboat ‘Bayanbar’ has given notice to the Balearic Emergency Service 112. After receiving it, the Palma center has mobilized the Salvamar ‘Acrux’ which has located the sailboat sailing with a hole in the side, as a result of the impact, which has taken place a mile and a half off the coast of Formentera, in the area of ses Illetes. Apparently, the ‘Bayanbar’ was anchored when the motorboat collided with it.

The Salvage boat has escorted the sailboat to the port of La Savina, with its crew unharmed.

For their part, the two occupants of the rental boat, a man of 37 years and a woman of 36, have managed to reach the port of Formentera, where two vehicles of SAMU 061 were already waiting for them, a service that had been previously notified of their entry, since both had suffered injuries in the accident.
