The board of directors of the Ibiza Yacht Club has denounced the danger posed to people and boats by the floating pontoons that they have been forced to install to comply with the Temporary Concession Authorization (AOT) granted a year ago by the APB.
In a press release, the Ibiza Yacht Club states: “We have seen how, once the works that we were required to undertake were completed, and on the first day of bad weather, our port has been left completely unprotected”.
In view of this situation, a meeting has been requested with the Port Authority with the aim of requesting the extension of the concession years or the definitive tendering of the concession, in order to start the works to improve these facilities.
“From the Club we have been forced to tear down the concrete dock we had and that, although obsolete, was an important shelter that not only protected us from inclement weather or the passage of other vessels, but was also a safer access for our members to their boats,” they said, recalling that to date “The Ibiza Yacht Club is the only marina with this problem because the rest have a fixed outer dock shelter”. “That concrete dock acted as a safeguard that literally closed us off like a fixed barrier and now we have seen that, once demolished and replaced by the two new floating pontoons, access to the boats and their integrity are compromised,” they lamented.
