How ‘The Girl from Ibiza’ amassed 140,000 Instagram followers: here’s the secret

Ibiza either captures your heart or pushes you away—it doesn’t do anything halfway. Luckily for Ilaria Iozzi, the island embraced her. Fifteen years ago, she fell in love with Ibiza, and the feeling was mutual. Since then, she has returned every summer to an island that has become her second home.

Born in Naples, Ilaria studied Communication, Media, and Advertising at IULM University in Milan. For nearly a decade, she worked as a Social Media Manager for Inter Milan. A few years ago, seeking a change, she transitioned to life as a freelancer.

From the Duomo to Dalt Vila

Ilaria Iozzi—better known as “The Girl from Ibiza”—spends her winters in Milan and swaps the Duomo for Dalt Vila in summer. In 2020, she turned her love for Ibiza into a profession by launching her Instagram account, The Girl from Ibiza. What started as a passion project quickly gained traction, now boasting over 140,000 followers.

How did she achieve this growth? Ilaria shares her journey and collaboration with Living Ibiza, Diario de Ibiza’s platform for discovering the island’s best-kept secrets, in this interview.

The Birth of ‘The Girl from Ibiza’

How did The Girl from Ibiza come about?

“The project was born in 2020 from my deep love for the island. I first visited Ibiza at 18 and have returned every summer since. Four years ago, I thought, ‘I’m a Social Media Manager—why not create a platform about Ibiza?’ So I did. At first, the account was simple, but with consistent content and the rise of Reels, it grew quickly. Today, it’s one of the island’s most-followed profiles.

Through The Girl from Ibiza, I collaborate with local businesses, but my main goal isn’t financial. It’s to share the island the way I experience it. My followers know they’ll only find places and experiences that I genuinely enjoy.”

What sets The Girl from Ibiza apart from similar accounts?

“I focus on authentic content. When people view my posts, they see genuine recommendations. The places I feature reflect my real-life experiences. I think people appreciate that transparency and my lifestyle, which is why they connect with what I share.”

How do you choose your collaborations?

“I’m selective. My aim is always to stay true to myself. It’s not about getting free dinners or easy money. I work with places I’ve been going to for years, even before starting The Girl from Ibiza.

Now that it’s also a job, financial considerations come into play. But I still only promote places I personally enjoy and would visit regardless. Every recommendation is something I’ve tried and loved.”

What draws you to Ibiza?

“The island’s magic is undeniable. Its nature, climate, people, warmth, and energy—it’s hard to put into words. Even stepping off the plane, you feel it. There’s something enchanting about Ibiza that captured me from the very start.”

Your favorite spot on the island?

“I’m obsessed with the views from Marina Ibiza to Dalt Vila. They’re absolutely stunning and have a magnetic pull on me.”

Why did you collaborate with Living Ibiza?

“It was a natural fit. We share the same mission: showcasing the island and its lifestyle. I admire local initiatives like Diario de Ibiza, so collaborating on Living Ibiza was an honor.

We create a mix of content—web articles, Instagram posts, and Reels in collaboration with The Girl from Ibiza. It’s a wonderful synergy.”

How would you describe Living Ibiza to your followers?

“It’s the ultimate guide to Ibiza, covering everything from clubs and beaches to restaurants and experiences. All the information you need in one place. The content is high-quality and in English, making it incredibly helpful for visitors planning their trips.”

What are people currently looking for in Ibiza?

“Unique experiences. They want hidden gems, authentic local spots, and new adventures—things that feel fresh and not overly commercialized.”
