The dense fog that enveloped Son Sant Joan airport in Palma this morning has resulted in multiple delays and cancellations at Ibiza airport.
Aeropuertos Nacionales y Navegaciรณn Aรฉrea (AENA) has reported that flight regulations were implemented early this morning at the Majorcan airport. As a result, some flights scheduled to depart from the Balearic capital to Ibiza have experienced delays of up to three hours.
Three planes that were originally scheduled to depart from Ibiza airport at 07:35 am, 8:20 am, and 8:25 am have been rescheduled to depart at 11:00 am. Additionally, a flight from Ibiza to Palma at 9:25 am has been cancelled outright, and another flight from Palma to Ibiza at 9:10 am has also been cancelled. Furthermore, three other flights have been delayed.
The routes from Malaga and Barcelona to Ibiza have also experienced delays of more than one hour this morning.
According to the State Meteorological Agency, the fog banks are expected to disperse as the day progresses. However, the flight regulations implemented earlier due to the fog will have a ripple effect on the rest of the operations, resulting in widespread delays throughout the day at Son Sant Joan airport.
