Driver arrested for drunken Ibiza fair break-in: “I came for churritos and I’m leaving”

A car honking and slowly entering the fairgrounds after charging the bollards at one of the entrances, surprised people enjoying the attractions and the Christmas atmosphere of the fair in Vila on Sunday at about ten o’clock at night. The driver, who was drunk at the wheel of a rented car, a Volkswagen T-Cross dark blue, parked next to the Christmas tree, right in front of the churrería booth. “He had drugs on him and when he got out of the car he dropped it on the ground.”one of the workers at the Moreno churro shop said.

“She also started to say that she was dizzy and that she wanted some churros,” he continues. At that moment, two off-duty agents of the National Police went to her to get her out of the car and found that she was carrying a bag of marijuana inside. “When she got here she said: ‘I’ve come to eat some churritos and I’m leaving’.”another of the fairgoers, in charge of bingo, recounts.

“People were surprised when he entered with the car, shouting at him about what he was doing entering like that”, continues the man, who contacted the Local Police of Ibiza. Although they were surprised, on the other hand, that he came in “little by little” warning with the horn, which led some people to think that it was a “carny entering gender”.

Insults to the agents

The two trainee officers held her to make sure that she did not run away from the site and, above all, that there were no greater evils. While they were holding her, the police officers were insulted by the woman, who began to adopt a rather aggressive attitude. “What the police did was to take away her keys and put her against the car.”the bingo employee continues.

“She stopped there,” explains another fairground worker who runs a hamburger restaurant at the fair, pointing to the trail left Sunday evening by the wheels of the woman’s car. He thought, at first, when he saw the police, that someone had been injured, although he soon realized that what was happening was something else. Fortunately, at that time and being a Sunday, the fair had already begun to empty and there were almost no children playing and running around.

“At least, yes, he blew the whistle and entered carefully, you could tell he meant no harm.”some of the fairgoers, who were commenting on the anecdote throughout the day, agreed yesterday.

Stopping on the ground

Upon arrival, the patrols of the Local Police came running to the aid of the two National Police officers who had grabbed her and had to struggle with her, as the driver continued to utter insults and even spit on them. Faced with the resistance of the woman, who also tried to throw some kicks at the patrol trying to arrest her, as can be seen in a video shared on Instagram, the police officers decided to put her on the ground to handcuff her.

Around the car a crowd of people had formed in those fifteen minutes who could not believe what was happening and filmed the scene, in which you can see how the citizens applaud when the agents reduce and take the detainee. Once calmer, they incorporated her and transferred her to the police van of the Atestados unit to perform the breathalyzer test, in which she showed a positive result, and when she was calmer, they decided to remove her shackles. On the other hand, the driver is now pending to go to court, as reported yesterday by the City Council of Ibiza.

“There were many people here who knew her, I think the car was stolen,” commented another of the fairgoers yesterday. “At least, one lady said she was the same one who several days ago had stolen her grandson’s car.”he added. However, the police have not been able to confirm these facts. As for the security of the enclosure, the City Council of Ibiza has not provided any explanation as to whether any kind of surveillance is carried out in the perimeter where the fair has been placed, located in sa Joveria next to the restaurant el Carnicero, next to the EI-10.
