Curfew to end on Sunday in Ibiza and Formentera

Curfew ends on Sunday in Ibiza and Formentera

The midnight current curfew will end next Sunday on the Balearic Islands. The Government will lift the measure that has been in place since last October and is currently only in force on the islands and in Valencia. As well as the end of the curfew the number of people in social and family gatherings, currently set at eight outdoors and six indoors, will be increased. The number of diners per table on the terraces of bars and restaurants will also go up, but until Thursday there will be announcement about by how many.

So, from 6 June the restrictions on movement on the islands from midnight to six in the morning will disappear.

The changes will take effect from midnight on 6th June to midnight on 20th June 2021, explains the Government. Thus, if after 15 days without curfew the health situation worsens, the restrictions on movement at night could be reinstated.

Limits on family and social gatherings will be extended: from 8 to 15 people in outdoor spaces, and from 6 to 10 indoors in private properties, without limits on the numbers of cohabitees.

This was announced by Government spokesman, Iago Negueruela, during the press conference after the Government meeting. The councillor has stressed that a “slow” de-escalation will continue with “an eye on economic recovery”.

In addition, the agreement, which is still to be authorised by the High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands, sets the permitted capacity in places of worship at 100% and extends controls on entry to the Community.
