63-year-old british man goes on a bender in Ibiza, returns the next day for a bet

"I had just returned from a week's holiday in Ibiza and I was telling my work colleagues about it, and by chance I said I could spend a night there without having to go to a hotel," says the tourist

Taking a flight is already cheaper than many journeys by taxi or private car due to the rising price of fuel. However, staying in a hotel is not cheap at all, as room prices have been rising steadily in recent years. So much so that some tourists have already boasted in the British media of such feats as taking a plane and returning without staying overnight the next day.

This is the case of Andy Armstrong a 63-year-old Englishman, who came to Ibiza from party one night and came back the next day on a bet with his co-workers. Armstrong is a steelworker on the North Sea oil rigs of Yarm-on-Tees, Stockton-on-Tees, North Yorkshire.

A bag from Asda, a British hypermarket chain, with a change of clothes was all I needed Armstrong when he set off on his £25 (€28.80) flight to Ibiza for a night out, which turned out “absolutely brilliant,” the Daily Espress reports.

Challenge

The protagonist of this story had just returned from an island vacation when his co-workers urged him to go back out for the night without paying for a hotel. He accepted the challenge and set out to complete it immediately.

Armstrong found the cheapest Ryanair flight he could from the newcastle Airport to Ibiza and, after landing at 9 a.mwent directly to the center of Sant Antoni, where he had a pint before heading to the famous pacha nightclub at midnight.

He left the club at 6 am. Then walked five kilometers to the ushuaïa hotel in Platja d’en Bossa. This was followed by a quick one-hour nap on one of the sun loungers on the beach.

Next, Andy spent 50 pounds (57.60 euros) on a hotel breakfast which included salmon, caviar, a chicken kebab, fresh fruit and “lots of coffee,” he explained.

I got changed, threw my travel clothes in the trash in my trusty Asda bag and went into Pacha and had a great night out

“I had a few beers at £13 (€15) a bottle and a £23 (€26.5) gin and tonic,” Armstrong recounted. “I chatted with some people from Germany who were younger than me, although there was a cross-section of different ages in the club. One thing about Ibiza is that you never feel old or alone. When I arrived at Ushuaïa, I treated myself to ‘The Unexpected Breakfast’, as it’s called.I took a cab at 11 o’clock in the morning to the airport and took the obligatory photo at Ibiza’s last iconic stop: Burger King. Then I boarded my Jet2 flight back to Newcastle,” Armstrong concluded about his getaway.

Over 300 euros

In total Armstrong spent about £300 (€345.6) on his getaway. “It started as a bit of a joke with my work colleaguesbut I had an absolutely great time, with a story I will be able to tell for many years to come,” said the traveler.

To Andy Armstrong has always loved Ibizahe said, and first visited when he was 21, before returning later, “when I was married, with my wife and daughters”.

But his wife died five years ago and Andy wasn’t sure if he would ever return to Ibiza. “My eldest daughter, Tiffany, 32, convinced me to come back with her in July 2018,” he recalled.

“I wasn’t sure, I had the impression that it would be full of youth, but how wrong I was. There were a lot of people my age, who like me, had a love for music and for the island,” according to Armstrong, “that first time we stayed in Ushuaia and we went to see David Guetta“.

But Armstrong later returned with his other daughter, Ellie, and so began the English tourist’s love affair with Ibiza, “returning many times alone or with friends,” in his own words.
