36 drivers fined in Vila for being under the influence of drugs or alcohol

The violations were detected during a joint control campaign with the Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT) in which 350 vehicles were inspected

Between the 16th and 22nd of June, the Ibiza Local Police issued a total of 36 fines to drivers who were driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the municipality. The infractions were detected during a campaign of drug and alcohol control carried out in collaboration with the Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT) in which 350 vehicles were inspected.

The City Council explains in a press release that the officers issued 23 reports to drivers for giving a positive result in the drug test and 13 for exceeding the permitted rate of alcohol in breathalyser tests. Of these 13 drivers, seven were reported to the judicial authorities and charged with an offence against road safety for driving with blood alcohol levels over 0.60 mg/l.

In addition, during this campaign, the police issued a further 25 reports for various traffic offences.

As for the campaign to control Personal Mobility Vehicles (PMV), carried out between 7 and 20 June, the Consistory reports that the officers issued 32 complaints for non-compliance with the regulations.

Specifically, 23 people were reported for riding an electric scooter without a helmet, five for riding on the pavement, two for riding with two people on the VMP, one for riding with headphones and another for crossing a red light.
