The Ibiza National Police intercepted Saturday night a gun that was fired during a brawl between several people “in a central street in the town of Vila”, as reported by the National Police in a press release. The agents of the Specialized and Violent Crime Group (UDEV) have arrested three people who participated in the brawl. These arrests join the other two made by the Local Police of Santa Eulร ria the same night of the incident. The detainees, four Spaniards and one Argentinean, are accused of being alleged perpetrators of the commission of crimes of serious threats and illegal possession of weapons.
The fight took place around 11pm on Saturday, when some men got out of a high-end car in Bisbe Torres street and went to the terrace of a restaurant where a heated argument took place with a couple who were having dinner. The dispute ended with aggression, threats and a shot in the air fired by one of the men with a gun that at the time, although it turned out to be a blank, they thought it was real. After the brawl, they quickly fled in the car in which they had arrived.
A police operation was then launched to find those involved in the events. Two of them were arrested by the local police of Santa Eulร ria shortly after. In addition, investigations by the UDEV of the National Police led to the identification of the other participants in the fight and they were finally arrested on Monday.
Background
All detainees have a police record and have been brought to court.
The investigation remains open to clarify the causes that led to the event that generated scenes of tension in this busy area of the city. The National Police has assured that the Marina has police presence both of its own staff and the reinforcements of Operation Summer from Palma, Prevention and Reaction Unit and Motorcycle Unit throughout the summer season, which “has managed to reduce the incidence of crime”.
